Cline

Supported setup

Cline can call OpenModel through its Anthropic provider and custom base URL. This path sends Anthropic Messages requests to POST /v1/messages, which OpenModel supports.

This setup is limited to models that both:

• appear in Cline's Anthropic model selector; and
• publish messages in supported_protocols on Available Models.

Configure Cline

1. Install Cline from the VS Code Extensions Marketplace and open its settings.
2. Select Anthropic under API Provider.
3. Enter your OpenModel API key in Anthropic API Key.
4. Enable Use custom base URL and enter https://api.openmodel.ai.
5. Select a model whose OpenModel entry supports the Messages protocol, such as claude-sonnet-4-6 when it is available in both lists.

The base URL must not include /v1; Cline's Anthropic client appends /v1/messages.

Verify

Send a short message in Cline. A successful response proves that the selected Cline model and the matching OpenModel Messages route work together. If a model is absent from Cline's selector, this configuration does not make it available.

Troubleshooting

• 404 Not Found: confirm that the provider is Anthropic and the base URL is exactly https://api.openmodel.ai.
• 401 Unauthorized: re-enter the OpenModel API key without extra spaces and check its status in the Console.
• Model unavailable: check the current model's supported_protocols on Available Models and choose a model exposed by Cline's Anthropic selector.
